The AGM started this morning with welcome speeches from Mr Jordi Valls (President of Barcelona Port), Mr Javier Valencia (Barcelona Harbour Master) & Ms Dolores Muñiz (Provincial Director of the Instituto Social de Marina). The meeting then recieved a series of reports & presentation on the work carried out on a series of projects and programmes.

The delegates for the AGM are already beginning to arrive. We expect to have nearly 50 people attend the AGM from all over the world. The AGM is going to be the biggest one for a number of years.. We are just finalising all the preparations this morning. And........it has stopped raining although it is still overcast.

Welcome

I will be blogging from the AGM of the ICSW in Barcelona next week. The blog is aimed at all those involved or interested in seafarers' welfare around the world. The blog will contain photos, observations, and key issues from the AGM. I'll try and blog as frequently as I can but as I'm involved in the running of the AGM the posts will be a little erratic!

I'm looking forward to meeting the members who are attending, the speakers, and guests.The AGM comes at an important time with the impending ratification of the Marine Labour Convention 2006 later this year. The AGM is also going to be important as we will be looking at the future strategic direction of the ICSW and what we should be doing to enhance the welfare of seafarers.
